As of the date of the response, 26 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened in Ujjain district under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). These Kendras stock most generic medicines included in the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), excluding lab reagents and vaccines.
The provision of healthcare professionals in Public Health Centres (PHC) and Community Health Centres (CHC) is the responsibility of the State Government. However, the Central Government, through the National Health Mission (NHM), provides financial and technical support to States/UTs to strengthen their healthcare systems.
Regarding the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY), as of June 30, 2025, 11.54 lakhs Ayushman Cards have been created in Ujjain district, and 19 hospitals are empanelled under the scheme.

Will the Ministerof HEALTHAND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleased tostate:-
(a) whether the Government proposes to establish All India Institute of Medical Sciences
(AIIMS) or a Centrally funded medical college in Ujjain district in the State of Madhya
Pradesh;
(b) if not,whether the Government hasany proposal toestablish such institute inthe future,if so,
the detailsthereof;
(c) the numberof PradhanMantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras openedinUjjaindistrict so far;
(d) whether allessential medicines are availableonregularbasis insaid centres;
(e) whether adequate doctors, nursing staff and state of the art medical equipment are available
in the Primary Health Centres (PHC) and Community Health Centres (CHC) of Ujjain

(a) and (b) Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), till date establishment
of 22 All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) has been approved in various States/UTs
in the country including one AIIMS at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, which is functional. In the
current phase of PMSSY, there isno proposal for establishment of a newAIIMSinUjjain.
(c)and(d) Under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), as on date, 26 Jan
Aushadhi Kendras have been opened in the Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh. Almost all of thegeneric medicines included in National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) are included in the
basket of PMBJPmedicinesexceptlabreagents andvaccines.
(e) Public Health and Hospitals is a State Subject and the responsibility of provisioning of
healthcare professionals lies with respective State/UT Governments. However, under the
National Health Mission (NHM), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India
provides financial and technical support to the States/UTs to strengthen their healthcare systems
based on the Programme Implementation Plans (PIPs) submitted by the States/UTs within their
overallresource envelope.
(f) As on 30.06.2025, in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh, 11.54 lakhs Ayushman Cards have
been created and 19 hospitals have been empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan
Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
