Parliament Question: Setting-up of AIIMS in Bijnor

GOVERNMENTOFINDIA MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE DEPARTMENTOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE LOK SABHA UNSTARREDQUESTION NO- 3612 TO BE ANSWERED ON13/03/2026 SETING-UPOFAIIMS IN BIJNOR †3612.SHRICHANDAN CHAUHAN: Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate: (a) whether the Government hasreceived any proposal or representation regardingthe setting -up of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bijnor Lok Sabha Constituency of Uttar Pradesh; (b) if so, the detailsthereofand the present status of the proposal; and (c) whether the Government proposes to set up an AIIMS or a similar institution of national importance at Bijnor, given the large population, regional health disparities and lack of tertiary health facilities in Western Uttar Pradesh and if so, the timeline for its sanction and commencementof construction andif not,the reasons therefor? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a)to (c) Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), till date establishment of 22 All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) has been approved in various States/UTs in the country including 2 AIIMS in Uttar Pradesh, one each at Raebareli and Gorakhpur. Under another component of PMSSY, in the State of Uttar Pradesh, upgradation of 11 Government Medical Colleges (GMC) has been undertaken on Centre-State cost sharing basis by way of setting up of super-specialty facilities. There is no proposal for establishment of anAIIMSinBijnor,UttarPradeshunderthescheme. ***
