Parliament Question: Setting up of regional cancer centres in the country

GOVERNMENT OFINDIA MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE DEPARTMENTOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE RAJYASABHA UNSTARREDQUESTION NO. 2047 TO BE ANSWEREDON10th MARCH, 2026 SETTING UPOFREGIONALCANCER CENTRES INTHE COUNTRY 2047SHRIANILKUMARYADAVMANDADI Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleasedtostate: (a) the details of Regional Cancer Centres (RCC) that have been set up across the Country includingthe State of Telangana; (b) whether Radiotherapy services is available in all the RCCs across the country including the Stateof Telangana; (c)if so, the detailsthereof;and (d) if not,the reasons therefor? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE INTHE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a)Regional CancerCentres(RCCs) were earlier supported underthe erstwhile National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP). However, the scheme is no longer operational. At present, The Department of Health and Family Welfare is implementing ‘Strengthening of Tertiary Care Cancer Facilities’ Scheme under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non- Communicable Diseases. Under the Scheme,support isprovidedto Statesand Union Territories for setting up of State Cancer Institutes (SCIs) and Tertiary Care Cancer Centres (TCCCs) in Government Medical College/Hospital or erstwhile Regional Cancer Centre. Till date 39 institutions (19 SCIand20 TCCC), including MNJ Institute of Oncology & RCC, Hyderabad as a State Cancer Institute in Telangana have been approved across the country. (b) to (d) Radiotherapy services are available in 34 institutions supported under the scheme including MNJ Institute of Oncology & RCC, Hyderabad.
