Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

This document summarizes the response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 4052, addressed to the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports on August 18, 2025, concerning the establishment of Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centres/Indoor Stadiums in districts, specifically Dungarpur and Banswara. The Minister clarifies that sports development, including infrastructure and stadiums, falls primarily under the purview of State/Union Territory governments. The Union Government supplements these efforts through various schemes with funds allocated scheme-wise, not state-wise. SAI Training Centres (STCs) are established in states where the respective state governments provide the sports infrastructure, which SAI then manages. In some cases, SAI creates or upgrades infrastructure within its existing SAI Centres. The response indicates that no proposal for a SAI Training Centre/Indoor Stadium in Dungarpur and Banswara districts has been received from the State Government. However, one Khelo India Centre (KIC) has been established in each of the Banswara and Dungarpur districts. Details on these KICs are publicly available at https:dashboard.kheloindia.gov.in.
