Parliament Question: Shortage of Aviation Fuel

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 737 ( TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 23rd July 2026 ) SHORTAGE OF AVIATION FUEL 737. SHRI KOTA SRINIVASA POOJARY Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) the extent to which domestic and international flight operations in the country have been curtailed due to shortage of aviation fuel resulting from the ongoing conflict in the Gulf region; (b) whether the Government proposes to resume all suspended flight operations in view of the fuel crisis being resolved and if so, the details thereof including the steps taken to ensure a stable supply of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF); and (c) the Government's plan and the timeline for commencement of the long- pending Mangaluru-Tirupati flight service in view of the demand from devotees and tourists? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) & (b): As informed by the Indian scheduled carriers, they have not curtailed flight operations due to shortage of aviation fuel. (c): With the repeal of Air Corporations Act in March 1994, the Indian domestic aviation has been deregulated. It is therefore up to the airlines to provide air services to specific places depending upon the traffic demand and commercial viability subject to compliance with the extant guidelines in this regard. Airlines plan their domestic flight schedule on a specific route/city based on market demand, commercial feasibility and their company policy. ******
