(c) the steps taken by the Government to increase the number of beds, recruit additional
doctors, nurses support staff and improve overall infrastructure at AIIMS Kalyani tomeet the
growing healthcareneedsof the region;
(d) whether the Government is considering anyplan or proposal for the expansion of AIIMS
Kalyani, as demanded by local residents, to ensure adequate healthcare access and quality
treatmentfacilities for patientsfrom adjoiningdistricts; and

(a) to (e) All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),Kalyani set up under Pradhan
Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, has 762operational beds including52 beds inEmergency
and Trauma Center and 30 ICU Beds. At present, 42 Department are operational in the

The creation and filling of posts at AIIMS is a continuous process. In order to expedite the
fillingof vacantsanctioned positions, following steps have beentakenbythe Government:i. Standing Selection Committee (SSC) has been constituted as per the provision of
AIIMSAct,1956forrecruitmentoffaculty.
ii. Provisionhas beenmade for engagement of retiredfaculty at the levelof Professor,
Additional Professor and Associate Professor, on contract basis, up to the age of 70
years from Institutes of National Importance (INIs) and Government Medical
Colleges(GMCs).
iii. TheVisitingFacultySchemeallowsProfessors,AdditionalProfessorsandAssociate
Professors, from Government institutions in India or academic institutions abroad to
serve asvisiting facultyinAIIMS for teaching purposes.
iv. Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) isconducted by
AIIMS Delhi for recruitment of Nursing Officers for various AIIMS including
AIIMS Kalyani.
v. Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) is conducted by AIIMS Delhi for
recruitment to Group B and C non-faculty positions in various AIIMS, including
AIIMS Kalyani.
vi. Junior Residents (Academic) are selected through the Institute of National
Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) AIIMS Delhi and Senior Residents
(Academic) are selectedthrough the Institute of National Importance Super Specialty
(INI-SS)Examconducted byAIIMS Delhi twice a year.
The expansion of various clinical and non-clinical facilities at AIIMS is taken up in a
phased manner.
