SHORTAGE OF HOUSES UNDER PMAY-G

Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of two crore rural houses proposed under Pradhan
Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) as per the Cabinet
approval in June 2024;
(b) the current number of rural housing shortages in the country as
per the latest estimates, State-wise; and
(c) the details and number of houses have been completed under
PMAY-G since June 2024 and the projected timeline for
completing the remaining target?

(a) & (b): In order to achieve the objective of "Housing for All" in
rural areas, the Ministry of Rural Development is implementing
Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) with effect from 1st
April 2016 to construct 4.95 crore houses by providing assistance to
eligible rural households for the construction of pucca houses, with
basic amenities, by March 2029. The Union Cabinet has approved the
proposal for the continuation of PMAY-G during FY 2024-25 to 2028-
29 for the construction of 2 crore additional rural houses. As on date
a cumulative target of 4.14 crore has been allotted to the States/UTs,
against which 3.86 crore houses have been sanctioned and 2.92 crore
houses have been completed.
Under PMAY-G, the beneficiaries are identified based on the
housing deprivation parameters and exclusion criteria prescribed
under the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 & finalized
Awaas+ 2018 lists subject to due verification by the concerned GramSabha and completion of the Appellate Process. The Ministry has
achieved saturation of eligible households identified through the
existing SECC- 2011 list and the Awaas+ 2018 list in 29 States/UTs.
In accordance with the approval of the Union Cabinet for the
continuation of PMAY-G during FY 2024-25 to 2028-29, a new survey
is also being conducted for the identification of additional eligible
households by the States/ UTs using e-KYC face based authentication
through the Awaas+ 2024 mobile app and with modified exclusion
parameters.
(c): Under PMAY-G, 30,23,837 houses have been completed in the
country since June 2024 and the timeline for completion of the
remaining target is March, 2029.
