ANSWER
THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE

(a) & (b): As informed by State Government of Assam there are total 1 Medical College & Hospital,
3 District Hospitals, 3 Sub Divisional Hospitals, 28 Community Health Centres (including Model
Hospitals), 126 Primary Health Centres and 566 Sub Centres operational in Bodoland Territorial
Region. The number of medical officers, nurses and paramedics currently posted in different PHCs
andCHCs availableinthese centres isgivenat Annexure.
(c) & (d): National Health Mission (NHM) envisages achievement of universal access to equitable,
affordable & quality health care services that are accountable and responsive to people's needs. The
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare provides technical and financial support to the States/UTs to
strengthen the public healthcare system, based on the proposals received in the form of Programme
Implementation Plans (PIPs)under National Health Mission. Government of India provides approval
for the proposals inthe form of Recordof Proceedings (RoPs) aspernorms& availableresources.
As per per Health Dynamics of India (HDI) 2022-23, there is no gap in the availability of
medical staff, except for Lab Technicians, against the requirement at the PHC and CHC level in the
state of Assam includingBodolandTerritorial region.
Further, States/UTs are advised to put in place transparent policies of posting and transfer,
and ensure rational deployment of health professionals. As the posts required for health facilities are
filledupbyrespective State/UTGovernments, theyare impressed uponto fill upthe vacantposts.Annexure
