Skill Development Training for Sportspersons in Maharashtra

Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of times the sports competitions have been organized by
the Government at the Central, State and district levels for aspirational
districts of Maharashtra to promote sports during the years 2018-2024;
(b) the special measures taken for the development and skill training of
sportspersons of Dharashiv district;
(c) the number of sportspersons from the said district have been trained
for national and international level competitions under Sports Authority
of India (SAI) and the details thereof; and
(d) the special measures taken by the Government to skill the rural
sportspersons of Dharashiv district?

THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS

(a) Under the Khelo India Scheme, the Government of India has
organized 19 editions of Khelo India Games as of now. Khelo India YouthGames, 2019, were hosted by the State of Maharashtra from January 9–
20, 2019.
(b) to (d) 'Sports' being a State subject, the responsibility of promotion
and development of sports rests primarily with the State/Union Territory
Governments. The Union Government supplements their efforts by
bridging critical gaps ,including in the rural areas. At present, various
sports promotional schemes of this Ministry are operational in the entire
country, including in various districts of the state of Maharashtra.The
sportspersons identified by such schemes belong to all sections of the
society and are provided with regular training on Residential and Non-
Residential basis as per the approved norms of the Schemes.
In order to identify talented sportspersons in the various age groups and
nurture them to excel at national and international levels the following
schemes are being implemented :
• National Centres of Excellence (NCoE)
• National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC)
(its Sub-Schemes - IGMA & Akharas)
The details of NCoEs, Indigenous Games and Martial Arts Schools
(IGMAs) and Adopted Akharas in the State of Maharashtra are at
Annexure-I.
Further, the Government through the Khelo India Scheme provides
comprehensive support to athletes, including scholarships, specialized
training and coaching facilities etc. A key component of this scheme
is sports competitions. The details are as follows:
1. Khelo India Centres(KIC): 1057 KICs have been notified at the district
level across the country which includes 43 KICs in Maharashtra as per
Annexure -II. These centers offer training in various sports, from
athletics and wrestling to kabaddi and archery, which are popular in
rural communities. These centers serve as a hub where local talentscan access quality coaching, improving their skills and preparing them
for higher levels of competition.
2. Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE): Support is given to
State facilities for filling critical gaps in equipment, providing high
quality coaching, sports science manpower, all in an effort to nurture
and support the children from across each state. At present, 01 KISCE
has been notified in Maharashtra.
3. Khelo India Talent Identification and Development: 2808 athletes in
21 sports disciplines (including from Maharashtra) have been notified as
KIAs. The list of KIAs is as per Annexure-II. A total of 42 academies have
been accredited in Maharashtra for the training of the Khelo India
athletes (KIAs). The list is as per annexure-III. Support given per trainee
per annum under the norms for the funding of residential Khelo India
Athlete (KIA) under accredited sports academies is ₹ 6,28,400/-.
