SHRI BHARAT SINGH KUSHWAH: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) the sport-wise number of athletes and teams that have represented India in national and international competitions from the year 2014 to till date; (b) the details of medals, championships and major international titles won by Indian athletes and teams during the said period; (c) the details of the States that account for the highest representation of athletes and teams at the national level, State/UT- wise; and (d) the details of schemes being implemented by the Government for providing incentives and rehabilitation to national and international medal-winning athletes, along with the number of such athletes who have secured employment within the Central Government, State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or private institutions so far, and the number of athletes not yet linked with institutional employment? MANSUKH MANDAVIYA] Page 1 of 8(a) to (c) The details of number of athletes and teams represented India in National Competitions is maintained by respective National Sports Federations. The details of participants and achievements of Indian athletes in the Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games are provided at Annexure – I & II. (d) The Government implements various schemes to support, rehabilitate and incentivize sportspersons , including medal-winning athletes. These include: (i) Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) for financial assistance towards training, competition, coaching, equipment, sports science support and Out-of-Pocket Allowance; (ii) Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (ANSF) for participation in international competitions, national coaching camps, procurement of sports equipment, engagement of coaches and support personnel; (iii) Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons (PDUNWFS) for providing financial assistance to outstanding sportspersons, including pension, medical treatment, family welfare and other support in cases of distress; (iv) Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Dhyan Chand Award and Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar to recognise excellence in sports; and (v) Cash incentives to medal winners in major international multi-sport events such as the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Asian Games, Para Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Deaflympics in accordance with the extant Scheme of Cash Awards.
