Parliament Question: Sports Facilities in Punjab

SHRI MALVINDER SINGH KANG: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has any proposal to establish additional sports hostels, coaching centres or high-performance training facilities in the State of Punjab; (b) if so, the details thereof; and (c) the details of the districts identified for establishment of such facilities and the timeline for implementation thereof, districts-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (DR MANSUKH MANDAVIYA) (a) to (c): ‘Sports’ being a State Subject, the responsibility of promotion and development of sports, including establishment of sports infrastructure, rests primarily with the respective State/UT Governments. However, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports supplements the efforts of the State Governments through its various Sports Promotional Schemes. At present, no such proposal is under consideration. *****
