Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) whether lack of sports facilities in the rural and semi-urban areas of the
country is leading to lesser opportunities for the young talents;
(b) whether the Government has formulated/proposes to formulate any
scheme to set up stadiums, sports complexes, training centres and
coaching facilities in the said areas and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the number of players provided training, scholarship or opportunity to
participate in competitions so far under the 'Khelo India' scheme
particularly from the States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand?

(a) and (b) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of development
of sports, including setting up of stadiums, sports complexes, training
centres and coaching facilities in the rural and semi-urban areas of the
country, rests primarily with the respective State/Union Territory
Governments. The Union Government only supplements their efforts by
bridging critical gaps. The details of various sports facilities across the
country, which are under the jurisdiction of respective State/Union Territory
Governments, are not maintained in this Ministry. The Union Government
runs various schemes for development of sports infrastructure and sports
facilities across the country. These include Khelo India Scheme, National
Sports Development Fund (NSDF), Running Sports Training Centres through
Sports Authority of India (SAI), etc. The details of the sports infrastructure
projects approved and their physical and financial progress, under Khelo
India Scheme and National Sports Development Fund (NSDF), across the
country, are available in public domain on the dashboards of the Ministry at
https://mdsd.kheloindia.gov.in and http://www.nsdf.yas.gov.in/nsdf-
glance.html. The details of other sports facilities under Khelo India Scheme,
viz. Khelo India Centres, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence and Khelo
