Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) the manner in which the Government ensured equitable fund allocation
for the States/UTs including Telangana under the "Sports for Peace and
Development" component in 2018-19 and subsequent years;
(b) the current criteria for approving project funding in 2025, and the
number of Telangana's projects have been approved or rejected this year;
(c) the number of Khelo India Centres and Academies are operational in
Telangana as of 2025, and the details of the financial assistance received
by the athletes during the last five years and the current year;
(d) the comparative details of Telangana’s athlete support and
infrastructure development with other States of similar size in 2025; and
(e) the details of new sports infrastructure projects sanctioned or
completed in Telangana under Khelo India Scheme in 2025, including
budget allocation and timelines?

(a) Under the “Sports for Peace and Development” component of the Khelo
India Scheme, funds were provided to District Administration through State
Governments, including in the State of Telangana, to conduct sports
activities aimed at youth engagement and peacebuilding, as per locations
identified and directions received from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
(b) to (e) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of development of
sports, including development of sports infrastructure and conducting

rests primarily with the respective State/Union Territory Governments. The
Union Government only supplements their efforts by bridging critical gaps.
The Khelo India Scheme is a demand-driven scheme. The proposals
received from the State/UT Governments and other eligible entities are
considered for financial support, subject to their completeness, technical
feasibility and availability of funds under the Scheme. The number of Khelo
India Centres and Academies which are operational in the country,
including in the State of Telangana as of 2025, and the details of the
financial assistance provided to Khelo India Athletes during the last five
years and the current year are available at
https://dashboard.kheloindia.gov.in. The details of the sports infrastructure
projects approved and their sanctioned cost and funds released under Khelo
India Scheme, across the country, including in the State of Telangana, are
available in public domain on the dashboard of the Ministry at
https://mdsd.kheloindia.gov.in. As per the existing guidelines of the Khelo
India Scheme, the timeline of completion of infrastructure projects
sanctioned under the Scheme is two years from the date of its sanction.
