Sports University in Uttar Pradesh
†1355. Dr. Rajkumar Sangwan:
Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the funds sanctioned, allocated and utilized under the
Khelo India Scheme (KIS) in the country, State/UT-wise;
(b) the number of stadiums constructed and those where work is
currently in progress in the State of Uttar Pradesh under the said
scheme, along with the funds allocated for the same;
(c) district-wise details in State of Uttar Pradesh, particularly w.r.t
Baghpat district;
(d) whether the Government proposes to establish a Sports University in
Uttar Pradesh especially in Baghpat district; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Funds are allocated and released Scheme-wise and not State-wise
under the Khelo India Scheme in this Ministry. The details of funds
allocated and utilized under Khelo India Scheme, since its inception
across the country, including in the State of Uttar Pradesh, are as under:

(b) and (c) The Khelo India Scheme and National Sports Development
Fund (NSDF), implemented by this Ministry, under which financial
assistance for development of sports infrastructure is provided are
demand-driven schemes. The proposals received from the State/ Union
Territory Governments and other eligible entities are considered for
financial support, subject to their completeness, technical feasibility and
availability of funds under the scheme. The details of the sports
infrastructure projects approved and their sanctioned cost, funds
released and their physical and financial progress, under the Khelo India
Scheme across the country, including in Baghpat district of State of
Uttar Pradesh, are available in public domain on the dashboards of the
Ministry at https://mdsd.kheloindia.gov.in.
(d) to (e) There is no proposal under consideration in this Ministry to
establish a Sports University in Baghpat District. The National Sports
University has been set up in 2018 at Imphal in Manipur through the
National Sports University Act, 2018 to cater to students and athletes
from all States/UTs of the country, including Baghpat.
