ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT
(SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE)
(a) to (e): The construction/ upgradation of Employees’ State
Insurance (ESI) hospitals is a continuous process.
The ESI Corporation (ESIC) has not received any proposal
to upgrade the ESI Hospital, Belagavi into Super-specialty centre
from the State Government of Karnataka. However, ESIC accorded
approval on 26.02.2023 for demolition and upgradation of the existing
50-bedded ESI Hospital building and staff quarters to a 100-bedded
ESI Hospital and staff quarters at Belagavi, Karnataka. The tendering
process is currently underway.
Currently, the Out Patient Department (OPD) services,
Emergency services, Lab services and referral services are being
provided in ESI hospital, Belagavi to the Insured Persons and their
family.

Besides, there are eight functional ESIS dispensaries in
Belagavi district, where doctors have been duly posted to provide
medical care to insured persons (IPs) and their dependents, and
essential medicines are made available as per the approved drug list
and supplied regularly to facilitate continuity of treatment.
The ESI Corporation undertakes empanelment exercises
from time to time as per prescribed norms to empanel more private
hospitals for providing tertiary care to ESI beneficiaries. At present,
the comprehensive healthcare services are being provided through 3
Super Specialty Treatment (SST) tie-up hospitals and 11 secondary
care tie-up hospitals in Belagavi District.
