STATUS OF FLIGHT OPERATIONS FROM NEW AIRPORTS
4013. SHRI RAMJI LAL SUMAN
Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:-
(a) the number of new airports built during the last decade in the country, including in the
State of Uttar Pradesh;
(b) the number of new airports which began operating flights during the last decade and the
current status thereof;
(c) the airports in the State of Uttar Pradesh which have been converted into commercial
airports during the last decade; and
(d) the details thereof?
ANSWER
Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar
Mohol)
(a) & (b): Since 2015, 13 Greenfield airports, namely Durgapur, Shirdi, Kannur, Pakyong,
Kalaburagi, Orvakal (Kurnool), Sindhudurg, Kushinagar, Itanagar, Mopa, Shivamogga,
Rajkot (Hirasar) and Navi Mumbai have been operationalised. Out of these, Kalaburagi,
Pakyong and Kushinagar Airports do not have scheduled flight operations, as on date.
(c) & (d): Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched Regional Connectivity Scheme -Ude Desh
ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN) on 21.10.2016 to expand connectivity from unserved and
underserved airports. In Uttar Pradesh, RCS flight operations had commenced from Agra,
Prayagraj, Bareilly, Kanpur, Hindon, Kushinagar, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Moradabad
and Chitrakoot. Ayodhya airport has also been operationalized.
