STATUS OF FUNCTIONAL EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGES AND MCCS
1279. SHRI APPALANAIDU KALISETTI:
Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the total number of Employment Exchanges/Model
Career Centres (MCCs) currently operational in the country,
State/UT-wise;
(b) the total number of job-seekers registered with Employment
Exchanges/MCCs during each of the last five years and current
year, year and State/UT-wise, along with district-wise for Andhra
Pradesh;
(c) the details of the total sanctioned strength and actual number of
personnel working in Employment Exchanges/MCCs, indicating
their designation/job in the country, State/UT and role-wise;
(d) the total number of Government and Private vacancies notified
through Employment Exchanges/MCCs in the country during the
said period, year, State/UT and sector-wise;
(e) the details of the number of candidates placed in Government and
Private sectors during the last five years and current year in the
country, sector, year and State/UT-wise; and
(f) whether the Government has undertaken any review or impact
assessment regarding share of placements facilitated in Private
sector through Employment Exchanges/MCCs and if so, the details
thereof?
ANSWER

(a) to (f): Government is implementing National Employment Service
through a network of Employment Exchanges. Employment is the joint
concern of the Central and State Government. Centre formulates
policies, standards and procedures for operating employment exchanges
whereas administrative and financial control of Employment Exchanges
lies with the respective State/UT Government.Ministry of Labour and Employment is running the National Career
Service (NCS) Portal for transformation of the National Employment
Service. The NCS Portal is a one-stop solution for providing career
related services including jobs from private and government sectors,
information on online & offline job fairs, job search & matching, career
counselling, vocational guidance, information on skill development
courses, skill/training programmes etc. through a digital platform
[www.ncs.gov.in].
As on 15.07.2026, there are 1008 Employment Exchanges in the
country. Further, under the NCS project, the Government has approved
407 Model Career Centres (MCCs), which also includes 370 Employment
Exchanges, that have been upgraded as MCCs. State/UT-wise details of
the number of Employment Exchanges and Model Career Centres may be

respectively.
The State/UT-wise, district-wise and year-wise details of
jobseekers registered, and number of vacancies mobilized on NCS portal
(including through Employment Exchange/ MCCs) across the country may
be seen at https://www.ncs.gov.in/_layouts/15/ncsp/ViewStaticReport.aspx
Further, notifying final hiring figures is not a mandatory
requirement on NCS portal. However, the job hiring data is available only
to the extent as voluntarily reported by the employers.
