Parliament Question: Status of youth hostels

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH AFFAIRS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO- 789 ANSWERED ON 05.02.2026 STATUS OF YOUTH HOSTELS 789. MS. SWATI MALIWAL Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) the number of youth hostels constructed under Youth Hostel Scheme during the last five years, year-wise and State/UT-wise, along with their location and year of establishment; (b) the funds allocated and utilised for their construction and maintenance during that period, year-wise and State/UT-wise; (c) whether it is a fact that no youth hostel has been constructed or is currently operational in Delhi and if so, the reasons therefor; (d) whether any proposal for a youth hostel in Delhi has been submitted and/or rejected during the last decade; and (e) if not, whether Government plans to construct one and the proposed timeline? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA) (a) & (b) No Youth Hostel has been established under Youth Hostel Scheme during the last five years. c) No Youth Hostel has been constructed under the Youth Hostel Scheme in Delhi as no valid proposal for the construction of a Youth Hostel in Delhi has been received from the State Government. d) No, Madam. e) There is no such proposal under consideration at present. ***** Page 1 of 1
