Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleasedtostate:
(a) whether Government proposes to introduce free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination as part
of itsefforts topreventcervicalcancerinthe country;
(b) whether the upcoming HPV immunisation initiative is intended to cover adolescent girls,
particularlythose aged 14years;
(c) whether the vaccination programme will be implemented through government hospitals, primary
healthcentresandother public healthinstitutions;
(d) whether Government has ensured procurement and availability of the required HPV vaccine doses
andadopteda single-dose regimen based on expertadvice; and
(e)if so, the detailsthereof?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OFSTATE INTHE MINISTRYOFHEALTH ANDFAMILYWELFARE
(SMT.ANUPRIYAPATEL)
(a) to (e) The Nationwide free HPV vaccination campaign was launched on 28th February 2026 for
approximately 1.2 crore eligible beneficiary girls aged 14 years across all 36 States and Union
Territories. The rollout was preceded by NTAGI guidance and training of medical officers and para
medical staff has been completed. Single-dose of HPV vaccine is administered free of cost at
government health facilities, including Ayushman Arogya Mandirs- Primary Health Centres (PHCs),
Community Health Centers (CHCs), Sub-District Hospitals (SDH)/District Hospitals (DHs) &
Government Medical Colleges (GMCs). The Government of India has secured HPV vaccine as kind
support from GAVI,the Vaccine Alliance.
