SHRI DURAI VAIKO: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has received requests for providing stoppage of additional trains at Thiruverumbur Railway Station in Tiruchirappalli district considering the growing passenger patronage at the station and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the Government considers providing stoppage for the following trains at Thiruverumbur Railway Station: 16615 / 16616 – Chemmozhi Express (Mannargudi – Coimbatore – Mannargudi) 12083 / 12084 – Mayiladuturai – Coimbatore – Mayiladuturai Jan Shatabdi Express 16187 / 16188 – Ernakulam – Karaikal – Ernakulam Express; (c) whether any feasibility study/passenger demand assessment has been carried out in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and (d) the details of the steps taken by the Government to provide stoppage of the above trains at Thiruverumbur Railway Station? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (d) To facilitate the passengers of Tiruverumbur, stoppage of 22675/22676Chennai Egmore-Tiruchchirappalli Chozhan Express has been provided at Tiruverumbur station w.e.f. 26.01.2026. However, these are examined and action as found feasible and justified is taken from time to time, which is an on-going process. Besides, provision of stoppages of train services, which is an on-going process, depends on the traffic justification, operational feasibility including availability of extra time on the section & availability of matching infrastructure such as Platform length etc. ***** Page 3 of 3
