Will the MINISTEROFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate:
(a) whether the Government has taken steps to strengthen the rural healthcare system in the various
Statesof the countryduring the last five years;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise including Maharashtra and the UT of Dadra and Nagar
Haveli andDamanandDiu; and
(c) the amount of funds allocated and utilized so far by the Government for strengthening the rural
healthcare services in the country, particularly in Maharashtra and the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli
andDamanandDiu during the last three yearsandthe current year?

(a) to (c) Public Health & hospitals fall under the State list and therefore, the primary responsibility of
strengthening public healthcare system iswith the States/UnionTerritories.However,underthe National
Health Mission (NHM), the Government of India supports all States/ Union Territories including
Maharashtra and Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu to strengthen the
rural healthcare system. States/ Union Territories submit their proposals through the annual Programme
Implementation Plan(PIP),and based on the available resource envelope (RE), the Government of India
grants approvals in the Record of Proceedings (RoPs) as per the approved norms and guidelines. The
detailsof last five yearsRoPs of allStates/UnionTerritories isavailableat linkprovidedbelow:

The details of the funds released and expenditure under NHM to all States/ Union Territories
including strengthening of rural healthcare services in the country, including Maharashtra andthe Union
Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu from the FY 2023-24 to 2026-27 is at
Annexure-I.
In addition to NHM, support to States and Union Territories are also approved for strengthening
of Health Care System including Rural Health Care under PM-ABHIM for an amount of Rs. 32,961.10
Cr.Further financialassistance of Rs. 59,811.80 Cr.was also releasedunderXVFCHealth Grants tothe
Statesfor strengthening of Health Care SystemincludingRural components.Annexure-I
