Thiru Dr. S Jagathratchakan: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) the total number of Professors suspended from Central Universities during the last twelve years, year-wise, university-wise and category-wise; (b) the grounds/reasons for each such suspension, including the category of misconduct or charges involved; and (c) whether inquiry or investigation reports were prepared in each case, if so, the details of the findings and outcomes of such inquiries? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (DR. SUKANTA MAJUMDAR) (a) to (c): Central Universities under the purview of Ministry of Education are statutory autonomous organizations established under respective Central Acts of Parliament and governed by provisions of the Acts, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations made thereunder. The Universities take all academic and administrative decisions, including action against any faculty or staff member, in accordance with the applicable Conduct Rules and with the approval of their statutory bodies such as the Executive Council, Academic Council and Court. The data related to the total number of professors suspended in Central Universities is not maintained centrally. *****
