As of August 4, 2025, the Ministry of Jal Shakti reported that over 15.68 Crore (80.99%) of the 19.36 Crore rural households in India have tap water supply in their homes. This information was provided in response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 2995, addressing tap water connections, specifically in Maharashtra's Beed and Shirdi Lok Sabha Constituencies. Detailed information, including village-wise data for these constituencies, is publicly available on the JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission) Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) at https://ejalshakti.gov.in/jjmreport/JJMIndia.aspx. The government is undertaking several measures to improve tap water coverage, including annual action plan (AAP) discussions with States/UTs, regular reviews of planning and implementation, capacity building workshops, and field visits by technical teams to provide support. The goal is to ensure tap water supply to every rural family, with focused attention on areas including Beed, Yavatmal-Washim, Shirdi, and Ahmednagar Lok Sabha Constituencies in Maharashtra.
