West Bengal asked by Shri Jyotirmay Singh Mahato.
(a) The Government of India in partnership with States/UTs is implementing the Jal Jeevan
Mission (JJM) to provide functional tap water connections to every rural household (at 55 lpcd,
BIS:10500 standard).
As on date, around 1.78 lakh (32.45%) rural households were reported to have tap water
connection in Purulia District of West Bengal under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
(b) & (c) As informed by State Govt. of West Bengal, 85 Water Supply Schemes at a total
sanctioned cost of Rs. 4,234.27 crores are currently being implemented in the drought affected
villages of the district of Purulia to address the drinking water crisis. These schemes will benefit
about 18.32 lakhs of rural population residing in 3.67 lakhs households. List of schemes is at
