Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of households provided with tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan
Mission (JJM) so far in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan including Sirohi and Jalore districts
and Bihar along with the number of those yet to be covered;
(b) whether it is a fact that the work related to laying of pipelines, construction of pump houses
and testing of water supply have remained stalled for several months in several districts,
particularly in rural areas and if so, the details thereof along with the factors responsible for
stalling the said works;
(c) the level at which the Union Government has held any meetings or review discussions with
the respective State Governments for resuming the stalled works under JJM; and
(d) the details regarding the timelines, financial progress and comparison between the funds
allocated and utilised under JJM?

including those under the Jal Jeevan Mission, lies with State/ Union Territory (UT)
Governments. However, lack of dependable drinking water sources in water-stressed, drought
prone, uneven geographical terrain, scattered rural habitations, lack of technical capacity with
implementing agencies, rising price of raw materials, delay in obtaining statutory / other
clearances, land availability issues etc. are a few of the reasons for delay in the implementation
of the Mission in states / UTs.
To expedite the planning and implementation, as well as monitoring and handhold States / UTs,
Government of India has taken number of steps which inter alia includes discussion and
finalization of Annual Action Plan (AAP) in consultations with States/ UTs, regular review of
planning and implementation at various levels, workshops / conferences / webinars for capacity
building and knowledge sharing, field visits by multi-disciplinary team to provide technical
support, etc. To bring transparency and effective monitoring, an online ‘JJM dashboard’ has
been created, which provides State/ UT, district and village-wise progress as well as status of
provision of tap water supply to rural homes. The details regarding the timelines, financial
