**Summary:**
In response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 3072, addressed on August 7, 2025, regarding technical snags in airlines, the Ministry of Civil Aviation provides the following information. The number of technical glitches reported by airlines in 2024 was 421, and 190 glitches were reported in 2025 (up to July 21).
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) maintains comprehensive Civil Aviation Regulations to ensure aircraft safety and maintenance, aligning with international standards from ICAO and EASA. These regulations are continuously updated and amended as needed. The DGCA monitors airline compliance through surveillance, spot checks, and night surveillance. Findings are communicated to airlines for corrective action. In cases of violation, the DGCA enforces procedures that may include warnings, suspensions, cancellations, and financial penalties for both airlines and personnel. TECHNICAL SNAGS IN AIRLINES

Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION
be pleased to state:-
(a) the details of technical snags and failure of safe, efficient and reliable air
services reported in the country during the last one year;
(b) the steps being taken by the Government to ensure safe air journey in the
country;
(c) whether the Government has any mechanism to check the safety and
security measure related to air journey and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the details of notices issued to various airline companies in this regard and
the action taken to check recurrence of such types of air safety violations?

(a) to (d): Technical snags are general phenomena in aircraft which may be
caused due to improper function / malfunction of components /system
/accessories fitted on the aircraft. The responsibility to rectify all snags
reported on the aircraft before the aircraft is released for flight lies with
operator/ airlines.
The number of technical glitches reported by airlines in 2024 and 2025 are as

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has establishedcomprehensive Civil Aviation Regulations to ensure the safe operation and
maintenance of aircraft. These regulations are continuously updated and
aligned with international standards, including those of ICAO and European
Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). DGCA amends its regulations from
time to time in accordance with ICAO standards.
DGCA ensures the compliance of airlines with all safety and maintenance
standards through the mechanism of conducting surveillance, spot check,
night surveillance etc. of the airlines and its personnel. The observations /
findings made during surveillance, spot check and night surveillance are
provided to the airlines for taking corrective action. In case of violation,
DGCA takes enforcement action in accordance with laid down procedures
which may consist of warning, suspension, cancellation including imposition
of financial penalty to the airlines/ personnel.
