GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TOURISM LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.2418 ANSWERED ON 03.08.2026 TOURISM PROJECTS IN PASCHIM MEDINIPUR AND JANGAL MAHAL 2418. SMT. JUNE MALIAH: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) the details of tourism projects sanctioned for Paschim Medinipur and the Jangal Mahal region during the last five years, year-wise; (b) the details of funds sanctioned, released and utilized, project-wise; (c) the present status of the said projects; and (d) the details of projects proposed for the said region during the current financial year? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (d): Development and promotion of tourism is primarily done by the concerned State Government (SG)/UT Administration (UTA). However, Ministry of Tourism under its various schemes such as Swadesh Darshan (SD), Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0), Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) – an initiative under Swadesh Darshan and Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) etc. provides financial assistance for development of tourism infrastructure and experiences in the country, to the SGs/UTAs, on receipt of the project proposals from them, in synergy with the scheme guidelines, Government directions, availability of funds, inter-se priority etc. No proposal for Paschim Medinipur and the Jangal Mahal region has been submitted to Ministry of Tourism. ******
