TRAIN SERVICE FOR SILCHAR-NAHARLAGUN AND SILCHAR-DELHI
3127. SHRI PARIMAL SUKLABAIDYA:
Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to reintroduce the Silchar–Naharlagun
service and introduce a Silchar–Delhi Rajdhani Express and if so, the
details thereof;
(b) whether additional stoppages at Salchapra and Chandranathpur Stations
in Cachar district are under consideration and if so, the details thereof;
and
(c) the details of the response received from Northeast Frontier Railway in
this regard?

(a) to (c) In its constant endeavour to cater to the needs of travelling
passengers, Indian Railways operates Special train services during festivals,
holidays, etc.. Accordingly, to cater to the needs of passengers of Silchar-
Naharlagun sector, Indian Railways operated 05637/38 Silchar-Naharlagun
Special till recently.
Silchar is directly connected to Delhi by 14037/14038 Silchar-New Delhi
Poorvottar Sampark Kranti Express. Besides, introduction of train services
on any route/section, which is an on-going process, depends on various
factors which include:
• Capacity of that section.
• Availability of path.
§• Availability of required rolling stock.
• Availability of matching infrastructure for rolling stock.
• Maintenance requirement of railway tracks and other assets.
To cater to the needs of passengers stoppage of 15615/15616 Guwahati-
Silchar Express has been provided at Salchapra w.e.f. 20.02.2026.
Accordingly, 12 train services are catering to the needs of Salchapra station
as listed below: -

Similarly, 02 train services viz. 15615/16 Guwahati- Silchar Express are
catering to the needs of Chandranathpur. Further, it has been decided to
provide stoppage of 12503/12504 SMVT Bengaluru - Agartala Humsafar
Express & 15611/15612 Silchar- Rangiya Express at Chandranathpur.
Besides, provision of stoppages of train services, which is an on-going
process, depends on the traffic justification, operational feasibility including
availability of extra time on the section & availability of matching
infrastructure such as Platform length etc.
