(a) whether the Government and other concerned organizations organized any
seminars/webinars titled “Transformative Agriculture for Lucrative Income” to benefit
farmers and the role of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR);
(b) if so, the details and outcome thereof;
(c) whether any studies were conducted and any committees/task forces
appointed, if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the details of the reports received, action taken thereon to benefit framers
through ICAR?

(a) & (b): Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and other concerned
organizations organized seminars/webinars on transformative agriculture for
enhanced income/improved socio-economic status of stakeholders. Various
innovative technologies have been developed and disseminated for transforming
agriculture and thereby improving the income of the farmers. It include development
of quality seed and planting material, climate resilient agricultural practices, integrated
farming, natural farming, organic food production, precision agriculture, protected
cultivation, entrepreneurship development in agro-based enterprises
like vermicomposting, backyard farming, ornamental fish rearing, mushroom
cultivation, bee keeping etc., and capacity development of farmers and other
stakeholders. However, seminar/webinar on “Transformative Agriculture for Lucrative
Income” has not been organized by ICAR.
1(c) & (d): Doubling Farmers' Income (DFI) Committee was Constituted to
recommend strategies for doubling farmers' income. The report highlighted the
importance of agricultural extension services for dissemination of ICAR developed
technologies and its adoption by the farmers. Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of ICAR
are one of the most powerful grassroots institutions supporting farmers and help by
bridging the gap between lab to land, bringing innovation, knowledge, capacity
building and confidence to the rural farming community. KVKs enhance skill of farmers
by providing them various training programs, front line demonstrations of new
technologies, distribution of Seeds and planting material, advisory services on crops,
livestock, climate etc. for doubling the farmers’ income.
