Parliament Question: UDAN scheme in Gujarat

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 996 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 9th February 2026 UDAN SCHEME IN GUJARAT 996. SHRI NARHARI AMIN Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) the number of locations in the State of Gujarat from where air connectivity has been started under the UDAN scheme so far, the details thereof; and (b) whether Government is aware of any instances of air services being discontinued in the State after their commencement, if so, the details thereof? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a): Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (RCS-UDAN), eight airports namely Bhavnagar, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Mundra, Kandla and Keshod, including two water aerodromes at Sabarmati River Front and Statue of Unity have been developed and operationalised for RCS flight operations. So far, 71 routes have been operationalised in the State of Gujarat. (b): Key reasons for discontinuation of routes include completion of the three-year Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support period, poor visibility conditions, restriction of operations to daytime at VFR-only airports, non-availability of aircraft, leasing issues, temporary discontinuation by airlines and low passenger load factors. Further, routes that were discontinued in the past rounds are periodically reviewed and wherever feasible, also re-bid, awarded and operationalised in subsequent UDAN bidding rounds. ******
