(a): The Government of India has approved Phase IV of Pradhan
Mantri Gram SadakYojan (PMGSY) in September 2024 to provide all-
weather connectivity to 25,000 unconnected habitations of
population size 500+ in plains, 250+ in NE & Hill Sates/UTs, special
category areas (Tribal Schedule V, Aspirational Districts/Blocks,
Desert areas) and 100+ in LWE affected districts, as per Census
2011. The timeline for completion of PMGSY-IV is March 2029.
The proposals received from the States are scrutinized by the
Ministry in the Pre-Empowered and Empowered Committee
meetings. The recommendations of the Empowered Committee are
submitted to the Minister of Rural Development and in case the
proposals meet the programme requirements, the same is
sanctioned for the State. As far as DahodLokSabha Constituency in
Gujarat is concerned, no proposal has been received yet from the
State for sanction under PMGSY-IV. The Detailed Project Reports
(DPRs) for the state under PMGSY-IV are at scrutiny stage with

(b): PMGSY-III was launched in 2019 for consolidation of the
existing rural road network by upgradation of existing Through
Routes and Major Rural Links that connect habitations, inter-alia, to
Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Higher Secondary Schools
and Hospitals. The program focused on upgradation of existing
Through Routes and Major Rural Links based on priority giving
importance to critical facilities like the rural markets, education &
health facilities.
Under PMGSY-III, 298 roads covering a length of 2,955.87 km
and 191 bridges were sanctioned to the State of Gujarat. Out of
which, 13 roads covering a length of 161.48 km and 9 bridges were
sanctioned for Dahod district and 11 roads covering a length of
96.96 km and 1 bridge were sanctioned for the Mahisagar district.
No specific assessment has been conducted on the impact of
PMGSY-III in respect of DahodLokSabha Constituency. However,
various independent evaluation studies conducted by NITI Aayog,
Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), and World Bank
for PMGSY have concluded that it has had positive impact on
education, access to health care facilities, employment generation,
better farm prices and so on. PMGSY has provided new
opportunities of employment such as in nearby urban areas where
people can commute daily.
