ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS { DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA } (a) So far, four editions of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) have been successfully organized, witnessing the participation of over 14,000 athletes from across the country. Of these, more than 6,800 participants were women, accounting for approximately 47.54% of the total participation, demonstrating significant female representation in university- level sports. Khelo India Games involve participants from all sections of the society. Community-wise data, including participation by tribal communities, is not maintained under the Khelo India Scheme. A detailed breakdown of athlete participation in all KIUGs is at Annexure-I. (b) The sports disciplines for the upcoming edition of the Khelo India University Games have not been finalised. The forthcoming edition is expected to build upon the achievements of the 2024 Games by further strengthening the competitive structure, expanding athlete participation, and enhancing infrastructure and organizational capabilities to create a more robust sporting ecosystem for university-level athletes. (c) There is no provision for direct scholarships under the Khelo India Scheme in connection with the Khelo India University Games. (d) The Khelo India University Games play a vital role in strengthening the under-25 athlete development pathway in the country. By providing a national platform for university athletes to compete, the Games facilitate early identification and nurturing of sports talent.
