Parliament Question: Upgradation and Impact of NCS Portal

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3674 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10TH AUGUST, 2026 UPGRADATION AND IMPACT OF NCS PORTAL 3674. SHRI DILESHWAR KAMAIT: Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has made any upgradation to the National Career Service (NCS) portal to make it more user-friendly and accessible for job seekers and if so, the details thereof; (b) the number of Model Career Centres (MCCs) operational in the country, along with their role in promoting the NCS portal usage; (c) whether based on analytics of the resumes, can the system predict current and future skilling needs for the youth and if so, the time by which a single window portal for job seekers be launched; and (d) whether the National Career Service (NCS) portal utilise advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Meta Data to effectively match job demand with supply and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a) to (d): The National Career Service (NCS) Portal is a one-stop solution for providing career related services including jobs from private and government sectors, information on online & offline job fairs, job search & matching, career counselling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, skill/training programmes etc. through a digital platform [www.ncs.gov.in] to all stakeholders across the country. The National Career Service (NCS) Portal has been upgraded to a cloud- based, open-architecture platform, and its enhancement is a continuous and dynamic process. Improvements and updates are undertaken in line with evolving requirements, leveraging the latest available technologies. These upgrades include integration with various public and private job and skill portals, enhanced AI-powered features, cloud-based applications for jobseekers and employers, robust verification mechanisms, multilingual support, and the launch of a mobile application to improve accessibility and user experience. The NCS project also inter alia, envisaged setting up of Model Career Centres (MCCs) in collaboration with States/Institutions to deliver career related services. Till date the Government has approved 407 Model Career Centres across the country. *****
