VACANCIES ATAIIMS KALYANI,WESTBENGAL
937. SHRIJAGANNATHSARKAR:
Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate:
(a) whether the Government isaware that 134 out of 309faculty posts, at AIIMS Kalyani
in West Bengal were vacant in 2025-26 and the faculty vacancies increased from 91 in 2024-
25 to 134 in 2025-26, representing an increase of 47 per cent in a single year and if so, the
detailsthereof;
(b) whether 1,050 out of 2,221 non-faculty posts were vacant at AIIMS Kalyani,
representing the highest non-faculty vacancy percentage among comparable newer AIIMS
and that these nonfaculty vacancies have increased from 545 in2024-25 to 1,050in 2025-26
andif so, the detailsthereof;
(c) the specific reasons why vacancies at AIIMS Kalyani are worsening year after year
despite the Ministry's special measures including Standing Selection Committees, Visiting
FacultyScheme andCommon RecruitmentExaminations;and
(d) the details of the time-bound recruitment plan to fill all 1,184 vacant posts at AIIMS
Kalyani?

(a)to(d): Creation of posts and recruitment is a continuous and dynamic process. As
part of this process, 743 additional posts (50 Faculty and 693 Non-Faculty posts) were
sanctioned for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Kalyani in the year 2025-26,
which led to increase in the vacancies. Filling up vacant faculty/non-faculty positions is
contingent on various factors including availability of suitable/eligible/qualified
doctors/health professionals, reservation roster, location of Institute etc. Due to various
recruitment efforts undertaken by the Institute, the vacant positions have considerably
reduced. The present status of sanctioned, filled and vacant faculty and non-faculty positions
