SHRIVIVEK K.TANKHA: Will the Ministerof HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate: (a) the sanctioned strength of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and itsfour autonomous boards under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 and the number of posts presently lyingvacant,board-wise andpost-wise; (b) the manner in which the NMC is presently discharging its statutory duties relating to regulation of medical education, ethics, accreditation and disciplinary control inthe absence of a majorityof members, including near-vacanciesinkeyboards; (c)the detailsof delays, backlogs or regulatorygapsarising from such vacancies;and (d) the steps takenandtimelines fixedfor fillingthese posts toensure effective functioningof the NMC asenvisaged underthe Act? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE INTHE MINISTRYOFHEALTH ANDFAMILY WELFARE (SMT.ANUPRIYAPATEL) (a)The sanctionedstrength of the commission is54,out ofwhich 19 posts arevacant.The details ofthe incumbencypositionofthe commission anditsautonomousBoardsare atAnnexure. (b) to(d) The Commission hasinformedthat appropriate institutional mechanismsare inplace to ensure the continued discharge of its statutory responsibilities relating to the regulation of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, ethics, and accreditation, in accordance with the provisions of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 (NMC, Act).
