GOVERNMENTOFINDIA MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE DEPARTMENTOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE LOK SABHA UNSTARREDQUESTION NO. 3580 TO BE ANSWERED ON13/03/2026 VACANTPOSTSIN GOVERNMENTHOSPITALS †3580.SHRIUMMEDARAM BENIWAL: Will the Ministerof HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate: (a) the current number of sanctioned posts of doctors, nurses and technical staff in various All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and other Central Hospitals such as Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals across the country along with the category-wise details of vacant posts; (b) whether it has come to the notice of the Government that patients are being placed on waiting lists ranging from six months to two years for surgeries of serious ailments such as cancerandheartdisease; (c) if so, the details thereof along with action plan formulated to reduce the said waiting period; and (d) the number of working days affected due to the breakdown of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scan machines in Central Hospitals during the last three yearsandthe amountof expenditure incurredonmaintenance of said machines? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a): The details of sanctioned, in-position and vacant faculty and non-faculty posts in various All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and other Central Government Hospitals viz. Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals underthe Ministry are at Annexure. (b) to (d): Waiting list of patients in AIIMS and other Central Government Hospitals is prepared duly considering the patient’s condition, urgency of treatment required and bed availability. To reduce waiting period, expansion of patient care facilities is taken up in a phased manner. To minimize inconvenience to patients, Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC)/ Comprehensive Maintenance Contracts (CMC) of various medical equipment is undertaken by Institutes/ Hospitals to expeditiously address technical faults, breakdowns etc. ina time boundmanner. *****Annexure Annexure referred to the reply to part (a) of the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question Number3580 foransweron13.03.2026.
