Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of internship opportunities offered under the Prime Minister
Internship Scheme since its launch, along with the number of internships
accepted and successfully completed:
(b) whether the Government has assessed the impact of the Scheme on improving
youth employability, particularly among candidates from Tier-II and Tier-III
cities, if so, the details thereof,
(c) the extent of participation of women and youth belonging to the Scheduled
Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes categories under the
Scheme; and
(d) whether any measurable outcomes or performance indicators have been
identified to evaluate skill enhancement, employability gains and sector-wise
placements achieved through the Scheme and if so, the details thereof?

(a): In Round I of the PMIS Pilot Project, partner Companies posted more than 1.27
lakh internship opportunities and made over 82000 internship offers to the
candidates and over 28,000 offers were accepted.
In Round II Pilot Project, partner Companies posted more than 1.18 lakh
internship opportunities (new and edited unfilled opportunities of previousround) and made over 83000 internship offers to the candidates and over
24,600 offers were accepted.
The duration of internship offered under the Pilot Project being of 12 months,
the completion dates of internship under Round I are from November 2025 to
March 2026 and under Round II are from April 2026 onwards, depending on the
date of joining of the interns. As on 27.01.2026, 3417 interns from Round I
have completed the internship.
(b): The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is regularly taking feedback from
various stakeholders and conducting independent evaluation studies to
analyze the pilot project’s impact, which includes candidates from Tier-II and
Tier-III cities. In the above exercise, interns have reported that the internship
was valuable in enhancing their technical and non-technical skills, increasing
professional exposure, thereby improving employability.
(c): Number of women and youth from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and
Other Backward Classes who applied for internship opportunities under the
Pilot Project is given at Annexure I.
(d): A dedicated dashboard has been developed to monitor various key
performance indicators (KPIs) such as number of the internships offered,
applications received, internship offers made, interns joined, internships
completed, etc. Further, there is a provision for companies to update quarterly
progress report of the intern’s performance on the PMIS-Portal.
The PM Internship Scheme is designed to enhance industry-relevant skills,
improve job readiness, and foster professional exposure through structured
internships in India’s top-performing companies and institutions to create job
ready, skilled work force. The scheme is not designed to provide placement
offers.
