The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, will host its Second Convocation
Ceremony on 15 April 2026 at the Institute Auditorium. This significant academic occasion will
be graced by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony will also be attended by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Jishnu Dev
Varma; Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis; Hon’ble Union Minister
of State for AYUSH and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav; President,
AIIMS Nagpur, Dr Anant Pandhare; Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Nagpur, Dr Prashant P.
Joshi, along with other distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, graduating students, and
their families.
During the ceremony, degrees and gold medals will be conferred upon a total of 210 students,
including 129 MBBS, 29 MD/MS, 35 B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, 5 M.Sc., and 12 Allied and Healthcare
graduates, in recognition of their academic achievements.
Established in 2018 at a temporary campus within Government Medical College, Nagpur, AIIMS
Nagpur relocated to its permanent campus in 2019 and was dedicated to the nation in
December 2022 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. In a short span, the Institute
has emerged as a leading tertiary care and academic centre, serving patients from Central India
and beyond.
The Institute currently operates 940 functional beds, including 110 ICU beds, and caters to an
average of 3,500–4,000 outpatients daily, while performing 40–50 major surgeries each day. To
date, AIIMS Nagpur has treated over 26 lakh outpatients, more than 1.12 lakh inpatients, and
conducted over 43,000 major surgeries, reflecting its growing clinical capacity and contribution
to public healthcare.
Academically, the Institute has developed a comprehensive ecosystem with 47 departments, an
annual undergraduate intake of 125 students, and postgraduate programmes across 31
specialties. It offers super specialty DM and MCh courses in 16 disciplines, along with B.Sc. and
M.Sc. Nursing programmes, paramedical courses, PDCC programmes in 17 subjects, and
doctoral programmes.
