PROVISIONAL ESTIMATES OF WHOLESALE PRICE INDEX, OUTPUT PRODUCER PRICE INDEX, AND TRIAL INPUT PRODUCER PRICE INDEX FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2026, AND FINAL INDEX FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2026

Ministry of Commerce & Industry PROVISIONAL ESTIMATES OF WHOLESALE PRICE INDEX, OUTPUT PRODUCER PRICE INDEX, AND TRIAL INPUT PRODUCER PRICE INDEX FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2026, AND FINAL INDEX FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2026 Provisional Estimates of Wholesale Price Index (Base Year 2022-23) for the month of July 2026 प्रव तथ: 14 AUG 2026 12:00PM by PIB Delhi 1. Key highlights of WPI (Base Year 2022-23) for July 2026 i. All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation for July 2026 is 9.78 per cent on year- on-year (YoY) basis, compared to 9.87 per cent in June 2026. The index for All Commodities for July 2026 stands at 110.0, whereas it was 110.2 in June 2026. ii. YoY inflation rates for major groups, namely, Primary Articles, Fuel and Power, and Manufactured Products are 8.52 per cent, 20.05 per cent, and 8.29 per cent, respectively in July 2026, compared to 7.0 per cent, 27.41 per cent, and 7.48 per cent, respectively in June 2026. The indices for Primary Articles, Fuel and Power, and Manufactured Products are 117.2, 105.4, and 108.4, respectively, in July 2026, whereas they were 116.1, 111.1, and 107.8, respectively, in June 2026. iii. Across groups, ‘Mineral Oils (containing Petroleum Products)’, ‘Food Articles’, ‘Manufacture of Basic Metals’, ‘Non-Food Articles’, ‘Manufacture of Food Products’, and ‘Manufacture of Chemicals and Chemical Products’ have been major drivers of WPI inflation in July 2026. iv. WPI Food Index (weight=24.99 per cent): The Food Index consists of ‘Food Articles’ from Primary Articles major group, and ‘Manufacture of Food Products’ from Manufactured Products major group. It observed a YoY inflation of 6.65 per cent in July 2026, compared to 6.14 per cent in June 2026. v. Monthly indices and Inflation Rate (in per cent) for All commodities and Major Groups, along with major group-wise contribution for the past months are presented in the charts below. The final index for the month of May 2026 has been revised from 109.9 (Provisional estimate) to 110.1. Accordingly, WPI inflation has been revised from 9.68 per cent, as per provisional estimate to 9.88 per cent as per the final estimate. 3. The Final Estimate of WPI (Base Year 2022-23) for the month of May 2026 has been compiled with a weighted response rate of 98.14 per cent. 4. The Provisional Estimate of WPI (Base Year 2022-23) for the month of July 2026 has been compiled with a weighted response rate of 78.55 per cent. 5. Wholesale Price Index and Year-on-Year (YoY) Inflation Rate for All Commodities, Major Groups, and Groups for the last six months is given at Annexure-I and II respectively. 6. Cumulative WPI for All Commodities, Major Groups, and Groups from April to July for FY 2023-24, FY 2024-25, FY 2025-26, and FY 2026-27 is given at Annexure-III. 7. Cumulative YoY Inflation Rate for All Commodities, Major Groups, and Groups from April to July for FY 2024-25, FY 2025-26, and FY 2026-27 is given at Annexure- IV. 8. Item-wise data pertaining to WPI (Base Year 2022-23) series from April 2023 to July 2026 is available at (https://eaindustry.nic.in/download_data_2223.asp). 9. Provisional indices of WPI, OPPI, and trial IPPI for a reference month are released on the 14th of the following month (if it is a working day, else on next working day). Accordingly, release of WPI, Output PPI, and trial Input PPI for the month of August 2026 will be on Monday, 14th September 2026. Output PPIs for Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Mining and Quarrying; Manufactured Products; and Electricity are 115.6, 119.4, 108.8, and 92.4, respectively, in July 2026, whereas those were 114.1, 121.5, 109.2, and 92.0, respectively, in June 2026. iii.
