Memo.No. 26309/WRG/2011-1, dt.:25-08-2011. 5. From the Executive Engineer, I&CAD, Irrigation Division, Mahaboobabad, Warangal Dist. Lr. No. EE/DB/1050-53/2No’s/M. dt. 28-11-2011. -----000----- ORDER: The Collector & District Magistrate, Warangal District, in the reference 1st read above, while furnishing the water level at the Pakhal Medium Irrigation Project as on 06-11-2011 and its ayacut under Tower and Sangam sluices, has stated that there is sufficient water in the tank to support the requirements of drinking water, Tower sluice and enables to pump some water into the Sangam sluice. Pumping of water into the Sangam sluice using the motor pumps was needed to supply water upto 30-11-2011 to save the standing crops under the sluice and requested the Govt. for suitable instructions in this matter. He has, further, informed over phone that it would be possible to temporarily deploy the required pumps from the Singareni Collieries, agencies of Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme Project and others, at nominal hire charges, with the help of the representatives of the Water User Associations. 2. In the reference 2nd read above, the Engineer-in-Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad, while explaining the situation, has requested the Govt. to accord permission to the Collector, Warangal to lift the water by deploying pumps at Sangam sluice to save the standing crop. 3. In the reference 3rd read above, the Govt. have accorded permission to the Executive Engineer, Irrigation Division, Mahaboobabad, Warangal District for lifting the water by deploying pumps at Sangam sluice under Pakhal Medium Irrigation Project to save the standing crop and an amount of Rs.10.00 lakhs (Rupees Ten Lakhs only) was sanctioned towards payment of (a) Energy Charges, (b) Transportation of pumps, (c) payment of nominal rents if any and (d) other incidental expenses, under certain conditions. PTO-2- 4. In the reference 4th read above, orders were issued to the Engineer-in- Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad and Chief Engineer, Central Designs Organization, Hyderabad to explore the design alternatives to avoid need for pumping of water in future and furnish report to the Govt. by the end of Feb. 2012. 5. The Engineer-in-Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad and the Superintending Engineer, Irrigation, Warangal have personally apprised to the Prl. Secretary(I) that they were able to save the crop by proactive and vigilance of water regulation. The amount sanctioned for pumping of water has not been utilized and was not required. They have reviewed the question of design alternatives and opined that the design changes will not be cost effective, considering that this kind of situation calling for pumping of water is rare. The problem will reduce after completion of the canal modernization works being taken-up with JICA funds. 6. The Executive Engineer, I&CAD, Irrigation Division, Mahaboobabad, Warangal District, in the reference 5th read above, while explaining the situation, has stated that the most of the standing crops under Sangam sluice would be attained harvesting state within a week and can be saved with effective water regulation and utilizing entire available water. The proposal for lifting water to the aycut under Sangum sluice has been withdrawn and water regulation was being continued on Sangum Canal. 7. Government, after careful examination of the matter, hereby cancel orders issued in the G.O. 3rd read above. 8. This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide their U.O. Note No. 809/32/A1/Exp.PW/12, dt. 19-01-2012.
