Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Team of media personnel from Jharkhand visits Goa under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Posted On: 12 FEB 2026 5:00PM by PIB Mumbai Goa, 12 February 2026 A team of senior journalists from Ranchi, Jharkhand, visited Goa as part of an inter-state media tour organized by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ranchi, under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) program of Government of India. The tour from Jharkhand to Goa, the paired states under EBSB, was organized in collaboration with PIB Goa from February 9th to 11th with the motto of giving the visiting journalists an opportunity to gain a firsthand exposure of Central government initiatives in Goa. The tour provided the eight-member team an in-depth understanding of the functioning and activities of prominent Central government institutes in the State such as Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), Naval Aviation Museum, ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI), CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), and All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA). On the first day, the journalists visited the NCPOR at Headland Sada, Vasco, where Senior Scientist D Dr. Rahul Mohan briefed the team on India’s polar research initiatives, climate change studies and ocean science research. The team was also shown a detailed presentation on India’s expeditions to Antarctica and the Arctic, along with the functioning of research stations. At the GSL, Vasco, the team was welcomed by Deputy General Manager Shri V.V. Riju who briefed the journalists on various projects undertaken under the Make in India initiative. The delegation also viewed models of different categories of ships built at the shipyard and delivered to the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and other stakeholders. During the visit to the MPA, Vasco, MPA Chairperson Dr. N. Vinodkumar and Deputy Chairperson Shri Vinayaka Rao briefed the team on port operations, future expansion plans and key initiatives, including the development of the International and Domestic Cruise Terminals. The journalists also visited port terminals and coal handling facilities. The team also visited the Naval Aviation Museum, Vasco, where they explored various aircraft and helicopters that have played a vital role in India’s defence preparedness. At ICAR–CCARI, Old Goa, the team undertook a field visit to observe ongoing experiments and innovative sustainable farming practices. The officials briefed the media personnel on the institute’s functions, schemes, ongoing projects and achievements in the coastal region agriculture sectors to understand the institute’s research contributions to coastal agriculture. On the final day, the journalists visited the CSIR–NIO, Dona Paula, where they were briefed on the institute’s research activities in the Indian Ocean and other scientific programmes. At the AIIA, Dhargal, Dean Dr. Sujata Kadam welcomed the journalists and briefed them on academic, research and healthcare activities of the institute.The team concluded the tour with a visit to the PIB office in Panaji, where Director, PIB Goa, Shri Nana Meshram interacted with the journalists.
