NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 5th June, 2015
F. No 4/15015/30/2011.—The following draft of certain regulations, further to amend the Food Safety and
Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations, 2011, which the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
proposes to make, with previous approval of Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (k) of
sub section (2) of section 92 read with section 23 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (34 of 2006) is hereby
published as required by the said sub-section (2), for the information of all persons likely to be affected thereby, and
notice is hereby given that the said draft regulation shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of the period of
thirty days from the date on which the copies of the Official Gazette in which this notification is published are made
available to the public;
The objections or suggestions duly supported by scientific evidence, if any, may be addressed to the Chief
Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Food and Drug Administration Bhawan, Kotla road,
New Delhi. 110002.
Any objections or suggestion which may be received from any person with respect to the said draft regulation
within the period specified above shall be considered by authority;
Draft Regulations
1. (1) These regulations may be called the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Amendment
Regulations, 2015.
2. In the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations, 2011,-
(a) in regulation 2.2 relating to ‘Labelling’,in sub-regulation 2.2.2 relating to‘Labelling of Pre-packaged Foods’-
(i) in clause 2 relating to ‘List of Ingredients’, in the Table under the first proviso, under the heading ‘classes’
for the entry ‘Edible vegetable oils/Edible vegetable fat’ and the corresponding entry under the heading
‘Class Titles’, the following shall be substituted, namely:-

“Edible vegetable oil/Edible vegetable fat or Give name of the source of the edible oil such
both hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated as mustard oil, groundnut oil, etc.

(ii) in clause 3 relating to ‘Nutritional information’, in sub-clause (v), for items (iii) and (iv),the following item
shall be substituted, namely,-
“(iii) Every package of edible oils, interesterified vegetable fat, both hydrogenated or partially
hydrogenated oils, edible fats, margarine and fat spreads (mixed fat spread and vegetable fat spread)
and package of food in which fats, oils and fat emulsions is used as an ingredient shall declare the
quantity of trans fat content and saturated fat content on the label.”
(b) in regulation 2.4, sub regulation 2.4.2 relating to ‘Labelling of edible oils and fats’, in clause 4, sub-clause (c)
shall be omitted.
