Amendment to the Special Rules for the post of Tourist Officer for the Tamil Nadu General Service.
[G.O. Ms. No. 47, Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments (T2), 5th February 2024,

No. SRO B-7/2024.—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India,
the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu General
Service (Section 16 in Volume II of the Tamil Nadu Services Manual, 2016).
Amendment
In the said Special Rules, in Part-II, in Class LXXIX, in rule 5, in sub-rule (b), in the TABLE, against the Category
“2. Tourist Officer” in column (1) and the Method “(1) Direct recruitment” in column (2).
(i) for the entry “(1)” in column (3), thereof the following entry shall be substituted, namely:-
“(1) Post Graduate degree in Travel and Tourism; (or)
Any Post graduate degree with one subject on Tourism; (or)
Any Post Graduate degree with M.Phil. in Tourism; (or)
Any Post Graduate degree with Diploma in Tourism;
(ii) for the entry “(3)” in column (3) thereof, the following entry shall be substituted, namely:-
“(3) Proficiency in English and Tamil Languages i.e., must have studied both Tamil and English as one of
the subjects at SSLC or HSC level.”
Amendment to the Adhoc Rules relating to the post of Assistant Tourist Officer Grade-II for the
Tamil Nadu Subordinate Service.

No. SRO B-8/2024.—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of
India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the rules published with the Information
and Tourism Department Notification No. SRO B-461/84 at pages 568 to 572 of Part III—Section 1(b) of the
Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated the 26th December 1984.
Amendment
In the said Rules,in rule 5,in sub-rule (b), in the TABLE, against the post “Assistant Tourist Officer, Grade-II”
in column (1),for the entries in column(2) under the item “(a) for direct recruitment”, the following entries shall be
substituted, namely:-
(i) A degree in Travel and Tourism (or) any degree with Diploma in Tourism;
(ii) Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation awarded by the Directorate of Technical Education,
Government of Tamil Nadu or its equivalent; and
(iii) Proficiency in English and Tamil Languages i.e., must have studied both Tamil and English as one of
the subjects at SSLC or HSC level.”

Amendments to the Adhoc Rules relating to the Temporary post of Store Attender in Motor Vehicles
Maintenance Department for the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Maintenance Organisation Subordinate Service.

No. SRO B-9/2024.—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India, the
Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the adhoc rules published with the Transport Department’s
Notification No.SRO B-232/80 at page 257 of Part III - Section 1 (b) of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated
the 30th April, 1980.
(2) (1) Amendment (1) hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 20th March 2015.
(2) Amendment (2) hereby made shall come into force on and from the date of publication in the
Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
(3) Amendment (3) hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 15th September 2016.
(4) Amendment (4) hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force notionally with effect from 1st January
2016 and with monetary benefit from 1st October 2017.
Amendments
In the said Adhoc Rules.-
(1) in rule 1, for the expression “Store Attender”, the expression “Skilled Assistant Grade-II shall be substituted;
(2) in rule 5, in sub-rule (b), for clause (ii), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-
“(ii) Must possess Industrial Training Institute Certificate with National Trade Certificate in the trade of
Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) and National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by the National Council for Training
in Vocational Trades, Government of India.”;
(3) in rule 6, for the expression “The rule relating to reservation of appointment (General Rule 22)”, the expression,
“The provisions relating to reservation of appointment as provided in Section 27 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants
(Conditions of Service) Act, 2016 (Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 2016)” shall be substituted;
(4) in rule 8, for the expression “scale of Rs.280-5-320-10-450”, the expression “level of pay of Rs.19500-71900/-
(Level 8)” shall be substituted.
Amendments to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Maintenance Subordinate Service.

No. SRO B-10/2024.—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of
India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu
Motor Vehicles Maintenance Subordinate Service (Section 39 in Volume III of the Tamil Nadu Services Manual, 2016).
(2) (i) Amendments (1), (2) and (5) hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the
20th March 2015.
(ii) Amendments (3) and (4) hereby made shall come into force on and from the date of publication of this
notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
Amendments
In the said Special Rules,-
(1) in rule 1, for the Categories “1. Foreman”, “2. Mechanic Grade I”, “3. Time Keeper”, “4. Mechanic
Grade II”, “5. Electrician Grade I”’, “8. Bench Fitter”, “11. Carpenter”, “13. Blacksmith” and “14. Turner”, the Categories
“1. Supervisor (Foreman)”, “2. Special Artisan (Mechanic, Grade I)”, “3. Skilled Assistant, Grade I (Time Keeper)”,
“4. Skilled Assistant, Grade I (Mechanic Grade II), “5. Skilled Assistant, Grade I (Electrician, Grade I)”, “8. Skilled
Assistant, Grade II (Bench Fitter, Grade II)”, “11. Skilled Assistant, Grade II (Carpenter)”, “13. Skilled Assistant,
Grade II (Blacksmith)” and “14. Skilled Assistant, Grade II (Turner)” shall respectively be substituted;16 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE [Part III—Sec. 1(b)
(2) in rule 2, in the table,-
(i) for the entry “1. Foreman” in column (1) and the corresponding entries in column (2) thereof, the following entries
shall, respectively be substituted, namely:-
“1.Supervisor (Foreman) (1) By direct recruitment;
or
(2) By promotion from the category of
Special Artisan (Mechanic, Grade I)
and Special Artisan (Chargeman);
or
(3) By recruitment by transfer from
any other service”;
(ii) for the entry “2. Mechanic, Grade I” in column (1) and the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, the following
entries shall, respectively be substituted, namely:-
“2. Special Artisan By promotion from the category of .
(Mechanic, Grade I) Skilled Assistant, Grade I
(Mechanic, Grade II)”;
(iii) for the entry “3. Time Keeper” in column (1) and the corresponding entries in column (2) thereof, the following
entries shall,respectively, be substituted, namely:-
“3. Skilled Assistant, Grade I (1) (a) By promotion from the
(Time Keeper) categories of
(i) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Fitter),
(ii) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Driver Cum Fitter),
(iii) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Pump Operator),
(iv) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Store Attender),
(v) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Tool keeper) and
(vi) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Tyreman):
Provided that the appointment by this
method shall be made from the combined
inter - se - seniority list prepared among
the holders of the above categories with
reference to the date of joining regularly
in the respective category.”;
or
(2) By recruitment by transfer from any
other service”;
(iv) for the entry 4. “Mechanic, Grade II” in column (1) and the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, the following
entries shall respectively be substituted, namely::-
“4. Skilled Assistant, Grade I By promotion from the category of Skilled
(Mechanic, Grade II) Assistant, Grade II (Fitter) or Skilled
Assistant, Grade II (Driver cum Fitter)
(v) for the entry 5 “Electrician, Grade I” in column (1) and the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, the following

“5. Skilled Assistant, Grade I By promotion from the category of
(Electrician, Grade I) (i) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Electrician, Grade II)

(iii) Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Instrument Repairer):
Provided that the appointment by this method shall be made
from the combined inter - se - seniority list prepared among
the holders of the above categories with reference to the date
of joining regularly in the respective category.”
(vi) for the entry “8. Bench Fitter” in column (1) and the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, the following entries
shall, respectively be substituted, namely:-
“8. Skilled Assistant, Grade II By direct recruitment”;
(Bench Fitter,Grade II )
(vii) for the entry “11. Carpenter” in column (1) and the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, the following entries
shall respectively be substituted, namely:-
“11. Skilled Assistant, Grade II By direct recruitment”;
(Carpenter)
(viii) for the entry “13. Blacksmith” in column (1) and the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, the following entries
shall respectively be substituted, namely:-
“13. Skilled Assistant, Grade II By direct recruitment”;
(Blacksmith)
(ix) for the entry “14. Turner” in column (1) and the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, the following entries shall,
respectively be substituted, namely:-
“14. Skilled Assistant, Grade II By direct recruitment”;
(Turner)
(3) in rule 4, in sub rule (b), in the table,-
(2) for the entry “1. Foreman” in the column (1) and the corresponding entries in columns (2) and (3) thereof, the
following entries shall respectively be substituted, namely:-
“1.Supervisor (1) By direct (a) Must possess diploma in Mechanical
(Foreman) recruitment Engineering with Automobile Engineering as
elective or diploma in Automobile Engineering
issued by the State Board of Technical
Education, Tamil Nadu or of any recognized
institution or Board;
(b) Must have practical experience in an
Automobile Workshop for a period of not less
than three years; and
(c) Must possess a valid driving licence to drive
heavy transport vehicles.18 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE [Part III—Sec. 1(b)
(2) By promotion from the a) (i) A pass in SSLC; and
category of Special Artisan
(ii) Must possess National Trade Certificate in
(Mechanic, Grade I) or
the trade of Mechanic (Motor Vehicles) and
Special Artisan (Chargeman)
National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by
the National Council for Training in Vocational
Trades Government of India.;
(3) By recruitment by transfer (b) Must have served in the respective feeder
from any other service category for a period of not less than one year
in the case of diploma holders and two years in
the case of trade certificate holders.
and
(c) Must possess a valid driving licence to
drive heavy transport vehicles.”;
(3) after the entry “1. Supervisor (Foreman)” in column (1) and the corresponding entries in columns (2) and (3) thereof,
as so substituted, the following entries shall, respectively be inserted, namely:-
“1A. Special Artisan By promotion from the category Must have served in the feeder category for a
(Mechanic, Grade I) of Skilled Assistant, Grade I period of not less than one year”;
(Mechanic, Grade II)
(3) for the entry “2. Time Keeper” in column (1) and the corresponding entries in columns (2) and (3) thereof, the following
entries shall respectively be substituted, namely:-
“2. Skilled Assistant, Grade (1) By direct recruitment (a) Must posses a diploma in Mechanical
I (Time Keeper) Engineering with Automobile Engineering
as elective subject or diploma in Automobile
Engineering issued by the State Board of
Technical Education, Tamil Nadu, or of any
recognized Institution or Board; and
(b) Must have completed Apprenticeship training
in the designated trade as contemplated under
the Apprentices Act, 1961 (Central Act 52 of
1961 ).
(2) By promotion from the post of Must have served in the respective feeder
Skilled Assistant, Grade II category for a period of not less than 3 years.
(Fitter) or Skilled Assistant,

(b) Must possess National Trade Certificate in
the trade of Mechanic (Motor Vehicles) and
National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by
the National Council for Training in Vocational
Trades, Government of India.
and
(c) Must have served in the respective feeder

(4) after the entry “2. Skilled Assistant, Grade I, (Time Keeper) “ in column (1) and the corresponding entries in columns
(2) and (3) thereof, as so substituted, the following entries shall, respectively be inserted, namely:-
“2 A. Skilled Assistant, Grade I By promotion from the category of Must have rendered service in the feeder category
(Mechanic Grade II) Skilled Assistant,Grade II (Fitter) / for a period of not less than 3 years

(7) for the entry “10. Blacksmith” in column (1) and the corresponding entries in columns (2) and (3) thereof, the

“10. Skilled Assistant, Grade II By direct recruitment (a) A Pass in SSLC; and
(Blacksmith) (b) Must possess Industrial Training Institute
Certificate with National Trade Certificate
in the trade of Blacksmith and National
Apprenticeship Certificate issued by the
National Council for Training in Vocational
Trades, Government of India”;
(8) for the entry “11. Turner” in column (1) and the corresponding entries in columns (2) and (3) there of, the following

(4) rule 7 shall be omitted;
(5) in rule 9,-
(1) after the expression, “Skilled Assistant, Grade II (Welder)”, the expression “Skilled Assistant, Grade II
(Carpenter)” shall be inserted;
(2) for the expression, “Bench Fitter, Blacksmith, Turner”, the expression “Skilled Assistant, Grade II (Bench Fitter)
Grade II, “Skilled Assistant, Grade II (Blacksmith), Skilled Assistant, Grade II (Turner) shall be substituted;
Amendments to the Adhoc Rules relating to the Temporary post of Liner Grade-I in
Motor Vehicle Maintenance Department.

No. SRO B-11/2024.— In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution
of India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the adhoc rules published
with the Transport Department Notification SRO No.B-415/81 at 442-444 of Part III—Section 1(b) of the
Tamil Nadu Government Gazette dated 30.09.1981.
2. (1) Amendments (1) and (2) hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on 20th March 2015.
(2) Amendments (3) and (4) hereby made shall come into force on and from the date of publication in the
Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
(3) Amendment (5) hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force notionally with effect from 1st January
2016 and with monetary benefit from 1st October 2017.
Amendments.
In the said Rules,-
(1) in rule 1, for the expression “Liner Grade I”, the expression “Skilled Assistant Grade-I (Liner Grade I)” shall be
substituted;
(2) for rule 3, the following rule shall be substituted, namely:-
“Appointment: Appointment to the post shall be made by promotion from among the holders of the post of
Skilled Assistant Grade-II (Liner Grade II)”;
(3) for rule 5, the following rule shall be substituted, namely:-
“5. Qualification: For appointment to the post by promotion, one must have rendered service for a period of not
less than three years in the post of Skilled Assistant Grade II (Liner Grade II)”;
(4) rule 6 shall be omitted;
(5) in rule 7, for the expression “scale of Rs.325-10-445-15-550”, the expression “level of pay of Rs.20000-73700/-
(Level 9)” shall be substituted.
