Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla asserted that the youth power of India will propel the Nation toward the vision of a Viksit
Bharat. He made these remarks while addressing the students of Goa University; IIT, Goa and India International University of
Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa in Panaji, today. He added that today, innovation and research on campuses are
solving global challenges and through research and startups, everyday problems of common people are being solved, making
life easier. The responsibility of making India Vikshit by 2047 now belongs to the youth, he stressed. A person who loses hope
cannot move forward—success requires determination, clarity of goals, and continuous effort, the Speaker added.Mentioning that the youth of India should not shy away from political participating in democratic processes, Shri Birla called for
a deeper, more vibrant participation of youth in shaping nation’s political future. Voting alone is not enough—young people must
also ensure accountability in governance and administration, he emphasised. He noted that from the freedom struggle to the
present day, young people have played a vital role in overcoming every challenge. Their contributions continue to inspire us.
New ideas, new changes, and new directions have always come from the youth. Stating that democracy becomes stronger
with active youth participation and from local governance to Parliament, dialogue and discussion provide new direction, he
called for greater participation of youth to make governance more transparent, people-centric and accountable. Active
involvement of youth in policymaking is essential, as it remains incomplete without them, Shri Birla emphasised. The more
people participate in governance, the greater will be the positive impact on policy making, he said. Mentioning that women’s
participation is increasing significantly in various spheres, Shri Birla observed that their contribution in in constitutional and
legislative institutions and in administration as well is strengthening the Nation.
Stating that India’s youth are emerging as pioneers of solutions to global challenges, Shri Birla observed that Indian youth are
taking on leadership roles across the world—this is our greatest strength. In fact, the real strength of India lies in its young
population, and the hopes of the nation rest on them, he added. With strong determination, clear goals, and hard work, every
dream can be achieved, Shri Birla noted.Concluding his address, Shri Birla urged the students to study with determination, clarity of goals, the right vision, and
consistent hard work. This is the path that will lead them toward success and will make India stronger and more developed.
