NOTIFICATION Subject:- Filling-up of vacant post of the President of Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Last date for submission of Application through Online is 28.01.2025 till 11.59 PM ***** Applications are invited through online from the Hon’ble Judges/ former Judges of the Hon’ble High Court for filling-up the vacant post of the PRESIDENT of the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Bengaluru, as per the Consumer Protection (Qualification for Appointment, Method of Recruitment, Procedure of Appointment, Term of Office, Resignation and Removal of the President and Members of the State Commission and District Commission) Rules, 2020 & subsequent amendments to the rules (hereinafter called Appointment Rules). The qualification, method of Recruitment/Selection and other conditions are as hereunder: 1. Qualification/Eligibility: A person shall not be qualified for appointment as President, unless he/she is, or has been, a Judge of the High Court [Sub Rule (1) of Rule 3 of the Appointment Rules] (1)2 2. Method of Recruitment: The selection to the post of President of the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission will be made as per the Appointment Rules and as per the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Special Leave to Appeal (C) No. 25612/2023 vide its Order dated. 07.03.2024. 3. Term of office: The President of the State Commission shall hold office for a term of four years or upto the age of sixty-seven years, whichever is earlier and shall be eligible for reappointment for another term of four years subject to the age limit of sixty-seven years and such reappointment is made on the basis of the recommendation of the Selection Committee. [Rule 10 of the Appointment Rules]. 4. Salary and Allowances: The President of the State Commission shall receive the salary and other allowances as are admissible to a sitting Judge of High Court of the State and orders issued by the Government from time to time shall be applicable. [Sub Rule (1) of Rule 6 of Karnataka Consumer Protection Rules, 2020] 5. Method of Selection: Selection will be made by the Selection Committee in consultation with and subject to the concurrence of Hon’ble the Chief Justice of the High Court as per the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Special Leave to Appeal (C)No. 25612/2023 vide its Order dated 07.03.2024. 6. Mode of Application The mode of application shall be through online on the website - Seva Sindhu website https://sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in 7. Other instructions/conditions: a) The Applicants shall go through the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and it’s allied Rules including Appointment Rules before applying for the post of the President. b) The Applicants on selection shall submit:- i. necessary Physical Fitness/Medical Fitness Certificate as per sub rule (12) of Rule 6 of Appointment Rules and Rule 5 of Consumer Protection (Salary, Allowances and Conditions of Service of President and Members of the State Commission and District Commission) Model Rules, 2020.R.N.I.
