OFFICE MEMORANDUM
The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has introduced the National Pension
ystem (NPS) vide Notification No. DAP/PEN/I1/2004 dated 17.11.2007 which is applicable to
II new entrants to state Government Service who were appointed on regular basis on or after
1.01.2008 and is now governed under Central Civil Services (Implementation of NPS), Rules
021.
2. Under the provision of these new Rules, Family Pension I Invalidation Pension
1 Disability Pension/ Extraordinary Pension, is admissible on death or invalidation or disability of
the subscriber, as the case may be, in accordance with Rule 10 of CCS (Implementation of NPS)
Rules, 2021.
Now therefore, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh is pleased to extend the
benefits of Family Pension to the NPS subscribers under the Government of Arunachal Pradesh
as per Rule 10 of Central Civil Services (Implementation of National Pension System) Rules,
2021.
3. For availing the benefits under the National Pension System or under the
Central Civil Service (Pension)Rules 1972 (Now CCS(Pension) Rules 2021) or the Central Civil
Services(ExtraordinaryPension) Rules 1939 (Now CCS(EOP) Rules 2023), in the event of
his/her death or boarding out on account of disablement or retirement on invalidation every
Government servant covered under National Pension System (NPS) shall at the time of joining
Government service, exercise an option in requisite Form . Government servants, who are
already in Government service and covered by the National Pension System, shall also exercise
such option as soon as possible after the issue of this OM.
4. The option shall be exercised to the Head of office in Form I along with Form
2 (Family Details), who will accept the same after verifying all the facts submitted therein and
place it in the service book. (Form 1 & Form 2 are enclosed herewith). A copy of the option shall
be forwarded by the Head of Office to the Central Record Keeping Agency (CRA) through
theDirector of Accounts &Treasuries (DAT) / Pay &t.ccounts Officer (PAO)/ District Treasury
Officer (DTO) for record. The DAT/ PAO/ DTO shall also make suitable entry in the online
system indicating the details regarding the option exercised by the Government Servant.

In all other cases, where no option was exercised by the Subscriber, the claim of
the subscriber on discharge from the service and that of the family .on death of the subscriber
shall be regulated in accordance with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority
(Exit and Withdrawals under National Pension System) Regulations, 2015 as default option.•

6. if the subscriber, avails the benefits wider the CCS (Pension) Rules 2021 / CCS
(Ex rdinary) Rules 2023 in the event of his death or boarding out on account of disablement

ning accumulated corpus shall be paid to the legal heir(s).
7. For the sake of clarity it shall be noted that the provision of the CCS (Pension)
Rai 2021 or CCS (Extraordinary Pension) Rule 2023, are to be adopted only for the purpose of
calc ation of the relevant benefits mentioned above but it shall not be construed as though the
emp oyees are governed by the said rules.
