No. SRO B-17/2023.— In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of
India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu
Fisheries Subordinate Service (Section 11 Part III B in Volume III of the Tamil Nadu Services Manual, 2016).
Amendments
In the said Special rules, in the ANNEXURE to rule 6, in the Tabular column, for item (ii) in column (3) against the entry
“(iii)Recruitment by transfer” in column (2) and the corresponding entry “8. Sub-Inspector of Fisheries” in column (1) thereof, the
following item shall be substituted, namely:-
“(ii) Must possess a degree in Fisheries Science or a degree in Science with Zoology as main subject or a degree
in Science with Zoology as ancillary subject; and''.

No. SRO B-18/2023.— In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution
of India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following rules:-
2. The rules hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 22nd December 2011.
RULES
The General and the Special Rules applicable to the holders of the permanent posts in the Tamil Nadu Food
Safety Service shall apply to the holders of the temporary post of Microbiologist, subject to the modifications specified
in the following rules:
Provided that with effect on and from the 15th September 2016, the provisions contained in the Tamil Nadu Government
Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016 (Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 2016) and the Special Rules applicable to the holders of the
permanent posts in the Tamil Nadu Food Safety Service shall apply to the holders of the temporary post of Microbiologist.
2. Constitution. - The post shall constitute a separate category in a distinct class of the said service.
3. Appointment. - Appointment to the post shall be made by direct recruitment.
4. Appointing Authority. - The appointing authority for the post shall be the Government.
5. Qualifications. - (a) Age - No person shall be eligible for appointment to the post by direct recruitment, if he
has completed or will complete thirty years of age on the first day of July of the year in which the vacancy is notified.
(b) Other Qualifications. - No person shall be eligible for appointment to the post by direct recruitment
unless he possesses the following qualifications namely:-
Must possess Post Graduate degree in Microbiology of any University recognised by the University Grants Commission:
Provided that preference shall be given to the candidate who possess the Post Graduate degree in Medical

6. Reservation of Appointment. - The rule relating to reservation of appointments (General Rule 22) shall apply
for appointment to the post by direct recruitment:
Provided that with effect on and from the 15th September 2016, the provisions contained in Section 27 of the Tamil Nadu
Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016 (Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 2016) shall apply for the appointment to the
post by direct recruitment.
7. Probation. - Every person appointed to the post by direct recruitment shall, from the date on which he joins
duty, be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
8. Tests. - Every person appointed to the post of Microbiologist, shall, within the period of probation, pass the Account
Test for Executive Officer. If the persons appointed to the above said post does not pass the above test within period
of his probation, he shall not be allowed to draw his second and subsequent increment until he passes the test. Such
ineligibility to draw increments shall not have the effect of postponing his future increments after he passed the test.
9. Pay. - There shall be paid to the holders of the post, a monthly pay calculated in the Pay band 3 of
Rs.15600-39100 with Grade pay of Rs.5400/-
Provided that with effect on and from the 1st January 2016, the monthly pay shall be calculated in the pay
matrix of level 22, Rs.56100-177500/- under the Tamil Nadu Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 2017.
10. Saving. - Nothing contained in these rules shall adversely affect any person holding the post as on the date of
publication of these rules in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.

No. SRO B-19/2023.—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub section (2) of Section 27 of the
Tamil Nadu Fire Service Act, 1985 (Tamil Nadu Act of 40 of 1985) read with proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India,
the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Fire Subordinate
Service (Section 10 in Volume - III of the Tamil Nadu Services Manual, 2016)
2. (i) The amendment (1)(i) hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on the 15th September 2016.
(ii) The amendments (1)(ii) and (2) hereby made shall come into force on the date of publication in the
Tamil Nadu Govenrment Gazette.
Amendments
In the said Special Rules,-
(1) in rule 4,-
(i) in sub-rule (a), for the expression “The rule of reservation of appointments (General rule 22)”, the expression “The principle of
reservation of appointments as provided in Section 27 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act,
2016 (Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 2016)” shall be substituted;
(ii) after sub-rule (b), the following sub-rule shall be added, namely:-
“(c) In respect of the category of Station Officer 20% of the vacancies under direct recruitment shall be reserved fo
departmental candidates.”;
(2) in Annexure II, in the tabular column, against the entry “Class I Category 2 - (i) Station Officer” in column (1),-
(i) for the entry in column (2), the following entries shall be substituted, namely:-
“(1) For appointment of a candidate by direct recruitment, he must have completed the age of 20 years and must not
have completed the age of 30 years:
Provided that for appointment of a candidate who is a member of Scheduled Caste including Arunthathiyars / Scheduled

Provided further that for appointment of a candidate who is a member of Backward Classes or Backward Class (Muslims)
or Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities, the upper age limit shall be 32 years:
Provided also that for appointment of a candidate who is a Destitute Widow, the upper age limit shall be 37 years:
Provided also that for appointment of a candidate who is an Ex-serviceman, the upper age limit shall be 47 years, subject
to condition that his candidature shall be considered only for a period of three years after the date of discharge from his unit:
Provided also that for appointment of a candidate who is an Ex-personnel of the Central Paramilitary Forces
or a person serving in Armed Forces / Central Paramilitary Forces and who is about to retire within one year, the
upper age limit shall be 47 years, subject to the condition that his candidature shall be considered only for a period of
three years after the date of discharge from his unit:
Provided also that for appointment of a candidate by direct recruitment under the departmental quota,
the candidate must not have completed the age of 47 years on the first day of July of the year in which
the selection for appointment is made.
(2) For appointment of a candidate by recruitment by transfer from the post of Assistant in the
Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service in the department of Fire and Rescue Services, he must not have completed the
age of 35 years.”;
(ii) in column (3),-
(a) in entry (1), after item (c), the following item shall be added, namely:-
“(d) Lasik / Laser surgery / excimer laser surgery in either of the eye shall deemed to be a disqualification.”;
(b) for the entries (2), (3) and (4), the following entries shall be substituted, namely:-

(d) The candidates who qualify in the Physical Measurement Test will alone be allowed to participate in the Endurance Test.
(3) Educational and other qualification:-
(a) By direct recruitment.- (i) General Candidates:- Must possess a degree from any University or Institution
recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant:
Provided that other things being equal, preference shall be given to persons who have successfully undergone
any of the training course in the National Fire Service College, Nagpur.
(ii) Departmental Candidates.- (a) Must possess a degree from any university or Institution recognized by the
University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant:
(b) Must have put in a service for a period of not less than five years in their respective categories on the date

(c) Must have clean record of service without any punishment other than a minor punishment of censure:
Provided that other things being equal, preference shall be given to persons who have successfully undergone successfully
any of the training course at National Fire Service College, Nagpur.
(b) By recruitment by transfer.- Must possess a degree from any University or Institution recognised by the University
Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant.
(c) No person shall be eligible for appointment if the degree obtained is not in accordance with the pattern specified
under Explanation-I to section 25 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016.
(d) Tamil Language Eligibility Test: All candidates shall be subjected to the Tamil language eligibility
test. It is qualifying in nature and will be of objective type. The candidate has to obtain a minimum of 40
percentage of marks to be eligible for the next level of evaluation of the main examination OMR answer
sheet. The marks obtained in Tamil language eligibility test will not be considered for preparation of
provisional selection list at any stage. The syllabus is upto 10th standard level. It will have 100 objective
type questions for 100 marks and the duration of examination will be 100 minutes (1 hour and 40 minutes).
The minimum qualifying mark is 40% i.e 40 marks.
(4) The candidates shall be subjected to the written examination, endurance test and physical efficiency test as detailed
below before they are admitted to the oral test:-
(i) Main written examination:-

Part B - Psychology Test: Logical analysis, numerical analysis, mental ability, information handling ability, communication
skills - Tamil and English

Each question carries 1/2 marks, Duration: 2 1/2 hours, Minimum qualifying marks in written examination is 35% i.e.
