New Delhi, the 28th June, 2017
No. DE-22-2017.— In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Dental Council of India under Section 20 of
the Dentists Act, 1948, the Dental Council of India, with the previous sanction of the Central Government, hereby makes
the following Amendment to the existing Principle “DCI (Establishment of New Opening of New Dental College,
Opening of New or Higher Course of Study or Training and Increase of Admission Capacity in Dental Colleges)
Regulations, 2006”, published in Part III, Section 4 of the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, dated 12.01.2006 namely:—
1. Short title and Commencement.—
(i) These Regulations may be called the Draft “Dental Council of India (Establishment of New Opening of
New Dental College, Opening of New or Higher Course of Study or Trainingand Increase of
Admission Capacity in Dental Colleges) (11th Amendment) Regulations, 2017.”
(ii) They shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in theOfficial Gazette.
2. The following new proviso, after the existing proviso of clause (h) in sub-regulations (2) of Regulations 6 of the
principal Regulations, 2006, be inserted as under:-
“Provided that the distance of the attached medical college shall be relaxable only upto 30
kms, if the applicant owns and manages a General Hospital of not less than 100 beds with
necessary infrastructure facilities including teaching pre-clinical, para-clinical and allied
medical sciences, as per profile prescribed at annexure-I of the principal regulations and
amended from time to time, in the campus of the proposed dental college.
3. The following proviso be substituted with the existing proviso of clause (hh) in sub-regulations (2) of
Regulations 6 of the principle Regulations, 2006, as under:-
“Provided that, no permission for starting of MDS Course in the speciality of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery shall be granted by the Central Government u/s 10A of Dentists (Amendment) Act,
1993 unless and until the desirous existing dental college is attached with a
Government/Private Medical college approved/recognized by the Medical Council of India
located at the distance of 10 kms. by road but the distance of 10 kms. at the attached medical
college shall be relaxable up to 30 kms. by road, if the applicant owns and manages a
General Hospital of not less than 100 beds with necessary infrastructure facilities including
teaching pre-clinical, para-clinical and allied medical sciences, as per profile prescribed at
annexure-I of the principal regulations and amended from time to time, in the campus of the
proposed dental college.”
