The Engineer-in-Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad through his letters in references 2nd, 3rd and 4th read above has submitted proposals for extension of Left Main canal for the following reasons. i. The JICA have communicated concurrence for taking up the above Medium Irrigation Project for Modernization under APILIP. Hence Modernization of Rallapadu Medium Irrigation Project has been taken up for Modernization under APILIP with JICA loan assistance. ii. The head sluice of Rallapadu Left Main canal already constructed to discharge 100 cusecs of water to irrigate full ayacut of 4,000 acres. At present the left main canal water carrying capacity is only 30 cusecs to irrigate 1,500 acres of existing ayacut. As such the left main canal section is to be increased to carry 100 cusecs of water duly extending it from km.3.00 to km 15.875 km to irrigate its full ayacut of 4,000 acres to stabilize a total ayacut of 40,000 acres under Rallapadu reservoir. iii. By the time the work of extension of left main canal of Ralapadu project is taken up and completed, the work of extension of North Feeder canal of Somasila Project beyond km.72.42 to km.104.50 will also be completed so that, the Rallapadu project can receive 1.50 TMC of water and the stabilization of total ayacut of 40,000 acres under this project can be achieved. As such the purpose of taking up extension of left main canal of Rallapadu project will be served. P.T.O.// 2 // 3. In view of the above circumstances, the Engineer–in- Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad has requested the Government to accord administrative approval for an amount of Rs 2144.00 Lakhs (Two Thousand One Hundred and Forty Four Lakhs only) for taking up the work “ Extension of Left Main canal of Rallapadu Project in Lingasamudram (M) of Prakasam District from Km 3.00 to Km 5.875” to irrigate its full ayacut of 4,000 acres to stabilize a total of 40,000 acres under Rallapadu reservoir . 4. After careful examination of the above proposal, Government hereby accord in principle administrative approval for an amount of Rs. 2144.00 Lakhs (Rupees Two Thousand One Hundred and Forty Four Lakhs only) for taking up the work “Extension of Left Main canal of Rallapadu Project in Lingasamudram (M) of Prakasam District from Km 3.00 to Km 15.875 as per details annexed. The Engineer-in-Chief, Medium irrigation, Hyderabad is also directed to propose for Stage-I sanction in the first instance since survey , Investigation, Designing and Land Acquisition are involved in the project. 5. The expenditure for the work sanctioned in Para (4) above shall be debited to the head of account “MH 4701 -03 Medium Irrigation M &MI –MH- 195 Rallapadu –GH11- Normal State Plan”. 6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance (Expr.P.W) Department vide their U.O.No:31347 – A / 972 / A 1 / Expr.P.W / 11 dt.05.01.2012.
