CONSTRUCTION OF GREENFIELD EXPRESSWAYS
3258. DR. MANNA LAL RAWAT:
Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS

be pleased to state:
(a) the number of Greenfield Expressways currently being
constructed in the country, State-wise;
(b) the number of Greenfield Expressways proposed or under
construction in Rajasthan, including name of districts through which
they pass, their total length and the total investment made thereon,
district-wise;
(c) the total length of National Highways constructed or upgraded
under the Bharatmala Project in the country, State-wise and the
investment made thereon, particularly district-wise in Rajasthan;
(d) the details of assessment made regarding the utility of the Delhi–
Vadodara–Mumbai and Amritsar–Jamnagar Green Corridor
Expressways in terms of economic development, mining, industry
and connectivity; and
(e) whether the Government has any specific plan for ensuring safe
and convenient connectivity on feeder roads connecting villages to
National Highways, if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS
(SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)(a) 35 number of Greenfield Expressways/Access-controlled
corridors with a total length of 10,196 km are completed/under
construction in the country. The details are enclosed as Annexure-I.
(b) 4 number of Greenfield Expressways/Access-controlled
corridors with a total length of 1,190 km costing Rs.40,520 crore are
under implementation in the State of Rajasthan. The details are
enclosed as Annexure-II.
(c) Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I was approved by the
Government in 2017 covering a length of 34,800 km across the
country at an estimated outlay of Rs.5,35,000 Crore. Under the
program, projects covering a total length of 26,425 km had been
awarded and out of this, 22,223 km has already been constructed
upto February 2026. The State-wise details are enclosed as
Annexure-III. The district wise details with respect to the State of
Rajasthan is enclosed as Annexure-IV.
(d) Development of Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai and Amritsar-
Jamnagar Greenfield corridors are expected to have positive effects
across multiple sectors.
Delhi Mumbai Expressway will provide access-controlled
connectivity to 93 National Master Plan (NMP) nodes, 8 Multi-Modal
Logistics Parks (MMLPs), 12 ports and 8 airports. It is also expected
to provide an economic thrust to backward regions along the
corridor alignment including 2 aspirational and 8 tribal districts.
Amritsar-Jamnagar corridor will act as an integral artery
connecting land locked regions (Haryana, Punjab, J&K and
Himachal Pradesh) to key maritime ports in Gujarat. It is expected
to provide integrated connectivity to economic centers including 2
NMP nodes (Bikaner and Jodhpur) and 3 tourist hubs (Bikaner,
Jodhpur and Barmer). Further, it shall also feature a dedicated
utility corridor for Optical Fiber Cables, serving as the backbone for
5G and 6G rollout by providing high speed connectivity to remote
areas.
(e) Government in Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is
primarily responsible for development and maintenance of National
Highways (NHs) whereas the feeder routes and roads of village
connectivity come under the purview of the local Authorities and
respective State Governments.The development of Highways infrastructure is a continuous
process. For development of State roads, financial assistance is
provided under Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) subject to
accrual as per applicable guidelines thereon.Annexure-I
